Beauty Box ~ What’s in my Makeup Bag?

Hola!

I promised a long time ago that I would stick to a blog schedule – Ha! like that ever happened. I disappeared for awhile, took a ‘break’ from blogging (AKA I freaked out and stopped blogging altogether..) One of the topics on my blog schedule was a ‘What’s in my Makeup Bag?’ post. I’m obsessed with these videos on Youtube and blogs too so, although I might be a little late, here it is 🙂

First up, face!-

Depending on the day, I would either choose Guerlain’s Parure de Lumiere (tinted moisturiser) or MAC Pro longwear foundation on concealer.

Parure de Lumiere – 50 euro

MAC Pro longwear Foundation – 30ish euro

MAC Pro longwear concerler – 22 euro.

I couldn’t live without my MAC eyeshadows. I’m going to do a separate blog post with swatches, my favourites & my favourite combinations.

Rimmel Scandal eyes – Not my favourite, but the one I’m currently using!

Seventeen black liquid eyeliner – My holy grail eyeliner at the moment!

Essence eyeshadow brush, Sephora double ended eyeshot brush (brows & blending!)

MAC 217 blending brush.

Finish-

Well really, the Garnier Moisture Match should have been first for my base, but oh well! I absolute LOVE this moisturiser. The scent is heavenly and it’s super hydrating.

Seventeen bronzing pan – Cheap as chips and absolutely brilliant!

Bare Minerals Powder – Okay, so it might be foundation, but I absolutely love to use this to set my makeup.

Hula Bronzer – Perfect for contouring!

Coralista – Gives me a lovely glow all day long.

Photography Journal ~ Ireland

The Emerald Isle truly is a spectacular place. Born and raised in Dublin, I never really had much need for travelling Ireland but recently, I’ve realised how beautiful my little country is and I’ve been making more of an effort to see what Ireland has to offer.

Photography is one of my biggest passions and although I’m no pro, you can definitely see an improvement in some of my more recent pictures. One thing I need to start avoiding is over editing as it can be ridiculously addictive!

Glendalough, County Wicklow.

Glendalough is without a doubt my favourite place in Ireland. It’s a glacial valley in the Wicklow Mountains. There is also a medieval monastic settlement which still remains today which was founded by St. Kevin in the early 6th century.

Health & Fitness ~ Peaches & Cream Overnight Oats

Happy Sunday all you Beautiful people!

And a very happy Fathers Day to my Daddy, the best dad in the world 🙂

My Sundays tend to consist of getting up around 10am and going to my local supermarket to do a weekly shop. Then when I get home I try to prepare at least breakfast/lunch/dinner for the next day.
In general, I like to double my dinner recipe so I have some to take to work for my lunch. I try to eat only 1 – 2 servings of ‘carbs’ (Oats, rice, pasta, bread, potatoes) per day, so I’ll either have them with breakfast & lunch, Lunch & dinner or breakfast & dinner!

I thought I’d include my typical shopping list this week, to give you an idea of what I’ll be eating for the next 3-5 days. I’m not sure if this really interests people, but personally I’m a very nosey person and LOVE to know what people buy!

Meat;-
Lean Chicken
Lean minced beef (for spaghetti bolognese, meatballs, home made burgers)

Fruit & Veg
Peaches
Blackberries
Blueberries
Mangos x 2
Bananas
Nectarines
Red Pepper
Green Pepper
Yellow Pepper
Onion
Garlic
Cucumber
Cherry tomatoes.

Pantry items
Herbs/Spices
Tinned tomatos
Chopped hazelnuts
Chocolate chips
Diet energy drinks (can’t live without!)

Peaches & Cream Overnight Oats

Image is from http://www.honeyedhome.com

Overnight oats are a delicious, easy to make breakfast that takes about 10 minutes the night before to prepare. I personally hate eating first thing in the morning, so I bring these to work with me and have them at 9am. As I have to get up at 6am to be in work for 9, I never really have time to make breakfast first thing anyways, so these are great to grab out of the fridge on my way out the door!

This recipe serves one. I haven’t put exact measurements down as I usually just throw things in together and hope for the best!

Ingredients
Rolled oats
Skimmed milk
Fat free peach & nectarine yogurt
1 Chopped peach
1 chopped nectarine
Small handful of blueberries
Small handful of blackberries
Small handful of chopped hazelnuts.

  • Method!
Prepare your rolled oats, in your air tight container (i.e mason jar, lunchbox etc.) as per instructions on the packet.
  • Once the milk and oats are mixed, add in the peach yogurt.
  • Add in all of the fruit and stir until they’re evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
  • Seal the container and store in the fridge for at least 3 hours. I made mine at 1pm today and i’ll be eating them around 9 am tomorrow!
  • I also prepared the dry ingredients for Tuesdays overnight oats. Hazelnuts & oats are measured out in their container, fruit is ready to go. All I’ll need to do on monday night is add the milk, yogurt and fruit and pop it in the fridge!

This particular recipe smelled so good, it was actually difficult not to eat it there and then!

Have you tried overnight oats? What’s your favourite recipe? I think I’ll be trying banoffee (caramel, banana) next! I have a tonne of sugar free, low calorie flavoured syrups that I bought for my coffee addiction, but I had a thought just now that they could be delicious in oats!

Health & Fitness ~ Chicken Curry

image

*pictures from @fitnessplace instagram

About three years ago I started my fitness journey, which I’ve spoken about in a previous post. This was 100% diet based. I lost around 3 stone which I am so happy about. That brought me from almost 13 stone to just under 10 stone which also gave me a healthy bmi.

I was always very shy and often had panic attacks in the gym. My sister and I started doing TRX and since then, I’ve never looked back.

I’ve now started to go to the gym 3-4 times a week and I love it! I’m mainly doing classes and weight lifting. A lit of women seem to think weight lifting will turn you in to the hulk- believe me, that won’t happen. I’m learning to cook healthy meals from scratch.

I won’t lie, I’m currently having a bad time on the diet end. I’m eating well, cooking all my breakfast / lunches and dinners from scratch, however I find myself gorging on crap as well! Mainly when I’m stressed in work. This I really need to work on.

image

For the next 3 months, I’m going to try my very best to continue going to the gym 3 times per week and get my diet in check. I would love to lose around 8lbs and tone up. I’m considering a weekly blog, posting my favourite recipes from that week as well as my favourite workouts.

This week’s recipe is a super easy chicken curry.
* ingredients vary depending on your tastes and how many you’re cooking for

Ingredients:
Chicken breasts
Onion
Garlic
Red pepper
Green pepper
Curry paste
Curry powder
Tin chopped tomatoes
Mango chutney

Method:
Chop all veg and your chicken.

In a bowl, mix together your  curry powder, curry paste, tinned tomatoes and mango chutney.

Dry fry (or use a light cooking spray/ extra Virgin olive oil) your chopped vegetables and chicken. Once the chicken is almost cooked, add your mixture and bring to a boil. Once it’s boiled, reduce to a low heat and simmer while covered for around 40 minutes.

I had this on its own for my lunch today however I would advise a small portion of rice!

Bon apetit!

Fashion Fix ~ Holiday Picks!

Hello lovelies !

Yes it has been awhile.. I’ll be posting shortly with a little explanation of my absence and also a life update!

Today is of course Friday, and what better way to spend the best day of the working week? Online shopping!
Next week I’m booking a trip to Barcelona with my two best friends. (Ridiculously excited!) So I’m on the hunt for some majorly stylish outfits for my travels.

As I’m going for 6 days, that means at least 9 outfits for me.. possibly even 10 if we decide to go to the beach! I’m not exactly a ‘light traveller’.  Considering I spent 2.5 years as a flight attendant , you think I’d have mastered the art of travelling light!!

Here’s my current holiday wishlist:-

image

Black ribbed wrapped crop top – River Island, €30

image

Black button up A-line mini skirt – River Island, €40

image

Black & white striped beach bag – River Island, €55

image

Brown tortoise shell cat eye sunglasses – River Island €17

image

Red jersey dress – asos, €30

image

White lace insert swing dress – ASOS, €40

I’ve a tonne more to add to this list, but these would have to be my top picks.

Would you like to see a travel must haves list!?
Let me know in the comments below 🙂

Well Hello There!

Hi guys!

It’s been awhile, right? I’ve been super busy, and if I’m completely honest, didn’t know whether I’d come back to blogging.

Oh yes, I got the fear! The fear that someone I know would find my blog and make fun of it. Let’s just say I had a hard time with Youtube when I was 15.

I logged into my blogs instagram and had a few people wondering where I was. I was already considering starting to blog again but thanks to Leanne from lifeStyle for Less, who definitely gave me the push with her kind words, here I am. I thought, why not?! I’ve met so many amazing people through my blog and really enjoyed it so yes. I’m back!

I will ask you to bear with me while I get back into it. I started my new job a few months ago and had college and exams (all thankfully behind me).

I hope you all had a wonderfully, fantastic Christmas and New Year.

Follow me on instagram in the mean time!
